The first step toward becoming a helicopter
pilot is signing up for a Discovery Flight. Feel
what it’s like to take command of a helicopter’s
controls and soar through the air. Words can’t
describe it.
Each
Discovery Flightbegins
with a free Pre-Flight Briefing,
covering topics such as helicopter controls
and their flight characteristics, pre-flight inspections
and helicopter components.
You
will experience the life of a helicopter pilot
first-hand:
engine starting and rotor engagement, radio communications,
airport operations, flight maneuvers (including
take-offs, landings, hovering, level flight and
others depending on the type of Discovery Flight
you choose) and shutdown procedures.
Following
your flight is the Post-Flight Briefing,
which allows time to ask your instructor questions
about the flight.
Designed for the budget-minded
person who wants to try their shot at flying a
helicopter.
Flight time
accrued during Discovery Flights will apply toward hour
requirements needed to receive your pilot’s certificate.
There is no obligation to continue flight training after
the flight, although we bet you’ll be hooked.
Flight time is measured from engine start to stop. Custom
flight times may be arranged by calling Epic’s
office at (817) 625-1800.
